Videographer, photographer and author Bert Janssen from the Netherlands has won an EBE-Award in Laughlin (Nevada, USA) during the 2002 International UFO Congress and Film Festival for the best UFO related video documentary.
Janssen’s documentary 'Contact' won the award ‘by a mile’. The film tells the tale of the mysterious balls of light that are seen in and around crop formations. Since many years people have reported seeing those strange lights. Due to the fact that more and more people (especially those who are on holiday) are armed with video cameras these days, a magnificent collection of the mysterious balls of lights – both on video and on photo – has come into being. Many times the lights are bright white spheres, sometimes they are as small as a ping-pong ball, sometimes as large as a beach ball.
Bert Janssen has produced several documentaries about the crop circle phenomenon, in co-operation with his partner Janet Ossebaard. Their latest work –the award-winning “Contact” – contains a breath-taking collection of film footage and still photos of the balls of light. Thanks to the well structured script that cements the images into an exciting adventure, the viewer gets a clear and fully up-to-date view of this remarkable phenomenon. Numerous images are presented, together with revealing interviews and backed-up by beautiful music. This well constructed story lifts a tip of the veil of these remarkable balls of light, it shows very clearly their common features and not only that, it also very accessibly explains the scientific aspect of this phenomenon. An in-depth interview with Dr. Ir. Eltjo Haselhoff provides the viewer with a clear insight into his discovery (and the scientific proof) that the crop formations he studied were created by electromagnetic point sources (balls of light).
The fact that Janssen’s and Ossebaard’s work of many years has now been rewarded with an EBE-Award, is a well deserved international recognition. At this moment, they are working on several projects: two new books, a film script and a DVD. Furthermore, their previous documentaries (“Crop Circles – What on Earth is Going On?” and “Crop Circles – The Research”) have now been released on DVD in the USA. Both Janssen’s as well as Ossebaard’s still photos are regularly exhibit.
